Location: Calgary, Alberta

Position Type: Full-time, Apprentice

Wage/Salary Range: Competitive hourly wage, based on experience and apprenticeship level

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday (overtime may be required)

Hours Per Day: 8 hours per day

Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our valued client’s team in Calgary, Alberta. This full-time position is offered as an Indigenous career opportunity and is ideally suited to an individual interested in beginning or advancing a career in the heavy duty mechanical trade. The role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of heavy equipment in a safety-focused industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist journeyperson mechanics with inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy duty equipment

  • Perform routine servicing including lubrication, fluid changes, and component replacement

  • Support diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with site standards

  • Complete work orders, service reports, and maintenance documentation accurately

  • Follow all site safety procedures, job hazard assessments, and manufacturer guidelines

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Indigenous ancestry (self-identified)

  • Registered apprentice or demonstrated interest in pursuing a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with heavy duty equipment, automotive, or mechanical systems

  • Prior shop, field, or industrial work experience

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and shop equipment

Work Environment:

  • Industrial shop and field-based work environments

  • Exposure to heavy equipment, tools, and mechanical systems

  • Work conducted in accordance with strict safety and PPE requirements
