The Role
GrizzlyTrek is seeking one experienced Workforce Camp Installation and Operations Specialist to join our valued client's team. Based in Edmonton with travel required, this is an on-call consulting engagement supporting the establishment and ongoing operation of a construction workforce camp in British Columbia.
You will guide the construction team through camp planning, installation, commissioning, and readiness for occupancy. Once the camp is operating, you will stay available to support inspections, resolve deficiencies, and advise on operating requirements. We are looking for someone who has personally taken camps from bare ground to approved, occupied, and housing workers safely.
What You'll Do
  • Advise on camp layout, site readiness, installation sequencing, infrastructure needs, and operational planning
  • Support construction teams and camp suppliers with modular building placement, accommodation units, kitchens, washrooms, laundry, and supporting infrastructure
  • Coordinate with contractors and qualified professionals on power, heating, ventilation, potable water, wastewater, drainage, and fire and life safety systems
  • Identify applicable BC permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements, and help the project team build them into construction and operating plans
  • Liaise with authorities, inspectors, suppliers, and project personnel to clarify requirements and prepare for inspections
  • Lead commissioning and readiness reviews before occupancy, identify deficiencies, and track corrective actions through to completion
  • Provide on-call advice and attend site visits or inspections during camp operation as required
  • Help maintain inspection records, approval documentation, maintenance requirements, and operating procedures
  • Where requested, provide bid-stage advice on camp scope, installation requirements, schedules, and operating considerations
What You Bring
  • Demonstrated experience installing, commissioning, opening, or relocating workforce accommodation camps for construction, pipeline, mining, forestry, or other industrial projects
  • Direct, hands-on involvement in camp construction and infrastructure coordination, with completed projects you can speak to
  • Practical knowledge of BC industrial camp requirements, including coordination of health, building, fire, water, wastewater, and food-service approvals
  • Experience working with modular camp suppliers, construction supervisors, trades, camp operators, and regulatory authorities
  • Ability to read site plans and technical documentation, spot gaps, and give clear, practical recommendations
  • A track record of supporting inspections and resolving construction or operational deficiencies
  • Availability for on-call support and travel to project sites in British Columbia
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous camp management experience, including service provider coordination, maintenance, and resident services
  • Experience working directly with BC regional health authorities on industrial camp approvals
Additional Information
This engagement may expand to include camp management, depending on project needs and your availability. Any camp management role would be scoped and agreed separately from the on-call consulting arrangement.
When applying, please include a brief summary of the camp projects you have worked on: camp location and capacity, your role in installation and commissioning, and your experience with permits and inspections. Include your availability and preferred consulting arrangement.
What We Offer
  • A flexible on-call engagement that puts your camp expertise to work without a full-time commitment
  • The opportunity to shape a camp from planning through opening, with a path into camp management
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications
  • Opportunities for overtime based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance: $100,000 employee / $10,000 spouse / $5,000 per child
  • AD&D insurance with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health care: drugs, hospital, hearing, orthotics, nursing
  • Paramedical services: chiro, physio, massage, mental health (annual coverage)
  • Vision care: glasses, contacts, laser surgery, and exams
  • Dental care: 80% basic ($2,500), 50% major ($2,500), $2,500 ortho for children
  • Travel insurance: up to $5,000,000 per incident (trips up to 90 days)
  • Ongoing training and career development support
