GrizzlyTrek is creating career pathways for Indigenous people in the Grande Prairie area. We are seeking motivated individuals to begin a registered apprenticeship in one of three skilled trades: Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, Instrumentation and Control Technician, or Electrician. This is a full-time, entry-level position. No prior trade experience is required. What matters most is your drive to learn, a strong safety mindset, and a commitment to building a long-term career.As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced journeypersons at industrial worksites, learning the fundamentals of your trade while earning a wage. GrizzlyTrek supports you at every step, from your first day on the tools through to journeyperson certification.
What You'll Do
- Work alongside journeyperson mentors to learn the fundamentals of your chosen trade
- Assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs under supervision
- Learn to safely operate trade tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments
- Follow all site safety procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements
- Complete the technical training and on-the-job hours required for your apprenticeship
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members
- Show up ready to learn, contribute, and grow your skills each day
What You Bring
- Metis, First Nations, Inuit, or non-status Indigenous identity, residing in the Grande Prairie area
- A genuine interest in starting a career in the skilled trades
- A reliable, safety-first attitude and a strong willingness to learn
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, standing, and working in varied conditions
- Willingness to meet the entry requirements for a registered Alberta apprenticeship
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a labour, trades, or industrial setting
- Valid safety certifications (for example, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSTS, or Ground Disturbance)
- Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience with tools and equipment
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
Work Environment
- Industrial worksites in and around the Grande Prairie region
- Hands-on, physically active work in both indoor and outdoor settings
- Exposure to the varying weather and site conditions typical of Western Canada's trades sector
- A strong focus on safety, teamwork, and skill development
