Job Summary
Industrial mechanics are responsible for repairing, adjusting and maintaining equipment required for mining operations. Daily, they adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts or components using a variety of hand or mechanical tools. They collaborate in the development of preventive maintenance procedures for stationary equipment with the goal of improving maintenance work procedures and reducing the number of breakdowns and breakdowns. They clean and lubricate equipment and perform other routine maintenance by performing additional welding work as required.

Key Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility for the efficient and timely performance of the function of an industrial mechanic.

  • Maintain and repair all industrial plant equipment and other equipment as required.
  • Perform some of the installations and/or modifications to the plant's industrial equipment when required.
  • Perform all welding and cutting work.
  • Diagnose all types of mechanical problems.
Assumes responsibility for performing production functions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Follow established procedures and instructions.
  • Meet safety and quality standards.
  • Meet requirements within the allotted time.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with relevant departments and his/her supervisor.
  • Maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a professional reputation of the company.
  • Inform the supervisor of plant activities and any significant issues.
  • Identify problems and suggest solutions.
  • Attend and participate in assigned committees and training sessions to update technical knowledge as required.
  • Any other related tasks.
Education
  • High school diploma
  • DEP in Industrial Mechanics or equivalent
Qualifications | Skills
  • Accumulate more than 5000 hours of trade.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license issued by the SAAQ (class 5).
  • Aptitude tests required.
  • Have all the relevant qualifications and skills relevant to the position.
  • Be available to work on a flexible schedule when necessary and on call.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables.
  • Ability to communicate in simple sentences.
