Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Commissioning Completions Coordinator to join our team at an Alberta industrial project site. This is a contract position, ideally suited to an experienced commissioning professional with a strong completions background. Under the guidance of the Completions Manager, the successful candidate will coordinate all Completions activities from Construction Turnover through Operations Handover, ensuring accurate documentation, system validation, and safe, efficient transition to operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all Completions activities across all project phases from Construction Turnover to Operations Handover.

  • Act as custodian of the Completions Management Plan and Completions software; organize and archive all required system turnover and handover documentation.

  • Assist in Commissioning & Startup activities to ensure accurate transition of ownership and safe completion of system validation.

  • Organize formal walkdowns and confirm completion of system validation processes.

Health, Safety & Environment:

  • Adhere to all project site-specific safety directives, standards, policies, and procedures; complete all required safety training.

  • Act as a Safety Ambassador by participating in site safety drills, inspections, and safety meetings.

  • Ensure incidents are promptly reported, investigated, and corrective actions implemented.

  • Understand engineering HAZOP processes, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Operations Readiness Inspection (PSSR) philosophy and requirements.

Commissioning & Completions:

  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of CMS software and processes.

  • Organize temporary system transfers from Construction to CSU control.

  • Drive the turnover process, participating in inspections, system walkdowns, punchlist development, mitigation planning, and test record/document archiving in accordance with the CMS Plan.

  • Develop, schedule, and manage system walkdown inspections and create necessary walkdown packages.

  • Develop and maintain the Master Punchlist tracking tool and guide deficiency completion; maintain post-handover/warranty deficiency lists.

  • Understand system validation ITR processes and coordinate efforts to achieve acceptance of completed systems.

  • Collaborate with Project, Engineering, Construction, Quality, CSU, and Operations teams to ensure complete and accurate system turnover.

  • Develop daily completions status reports and work closely with scheduling to highlight plan misalignments.

  • Interpret P&IDs, Isometrics, SLDs, and Loop Diagrams to support accurate system turnover.

  • Ensure CSU documentation is properly collected, filed, and archived.

  • Support deficiency mitigation efforts, tracking, and documentation activities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Project Management:

  • Monitor and report commissioning progress and execution in real time.

  • Develop and implement mitigation plans with the CSU Manager to address schedule variances; identify schedule conflicts and system priorities.

  • Relate time-phased budgets to commissioning systems and subsystems; understand technical performance, schedule, and budget parameters.

Qualifications:

  • One of the following: Power Engineer (minimum 4th Class), Journeyman Interprovincial Red Seal, Process Technician/Technologist, Professional Process Engineer, or PMP designation.

  • Minimum 10 years of work experience, including 5 years leading commissioning and startup completions activities.

  • Strong completions background in industrial plant commissioning; experience with Completions Management Software preferred.

  • Required safety certifications: CSTS-20, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry & Monitoring, WHMIS, H2S Alive.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in commissioning and startup of industrial gas, power generation, chemical facilities, cryogenic technologies, air separation, syngas, and CO2 capture.

  • Experience working with major industrial suppliers and high corporate safety and environmental standards.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial construction and commissioning environment with approximately 50% field work, including system walkdowns in various weather conditions. Frequent computer-based documentation and reporting. Flexible shift work as dictated by project schedule.
